About

The site is a news site about staff and students in the biodiversity research focus group at the Department of Biological Sciences, National University of Singapore.

In 2007, Navjot Sodhi, then head honcho of the Biodiversity Crew, asked N. Sivasothi a.k.a. Otterman to setup a blog for the group along the lines of the Raffles Museum News (2004-2007). He felt it was important to reflect something of the nature of the work carried out by the biodiversity and ecology group (the environmental biology group since 2010) in the department, and promised (or perhaps threatened) to contribute something unsavoury which would shoot up ratings and rock the boat.

He never did, obviously, as he was too busy writing textbooks to help protect the planet. Navjot Sodhi left us very suddenly on 12 Jun 2011, RIP, and is sorely missed by all. See his memoriam.

The blog went active on 7th January 2008. Some information from internal emails that had been circulated in 2007 were added to the blog and backdated to the time of their original posting.

The Department is located at Block S2 in the Faculty of Science at Science Drive 4 in NUS. Most of us are on the 1st or 2nd floor, while the 3rd floor houses the teaching lab, Lab 7. See the sunny icon in the Google Map below! For buses, see Singeo’s Singapore Bus-stops map.
